Rathgar was Voted Eagle Star Leinster Club of the Year (mid size) 2005.
In the annual Eagle Star Club of the year awards announced in November 2005, Rathgar Tennis and Bowling Club was awarded the Leinster Club of the Year award for mid-sized clubs. Obviously this was a great honour for the club. These awards are run under the umbrella of Tennis Ireland and are intended to recognise clubs that are succeeding in promoting tennis in their community, providing a consistently high standard of facilities, and involving all age groups in tennis activity.
Specifically in Rathgar's case the judges cited the success the club has had over the past year in recruiting new members through open days, and the large numbers of juvenile players that the club introduced to the game through several Summer activities. In addition to this the co-operation between the club and Dublin City Council was noted as an important factor in the club's success. The club offers competitive tennis for all ages, from seven to seventy, in a secure environment. Obviously we were very pleased with this recognition and with making it to the last six in the National competition so we have entered again in 2006. This time around we were voted runner-up mid size club in Leinster and we were gratified to receive the recognition again...
