The Club

Rathgar Tennis and Bowling Club is a voluntary community club. It’s origins go back to 1985 when discussions between Rathgar Residents Association and Dublin Corporation identified the need to improve the utilization of the public courts in the park. A steering committee was set up to oversee this. The club is situated at Herzog Park, Rathgar and is approximately 150 metres from the main junction in Rathgar (see map for details). From these early days in 1985 the club has thrived, and the facilities have been steadily improved over the years.

There are ten all weather (savanna) floodlit courts at the club, and opening hours are 10am to 10pm daily. The club is a family-oriented one, and great emphasis is placed upon the development of junior members. Regular coaching is available, and it is most encouraging to see junior members begin to play on league teams as this shows that the policy adopted over the past few years is bearing fruit

Leinster mid-size Club of the Year 2005 as voted in the annual Eagle Star Awards, and runner up in 2006....(we're consistent if nothing else!)

Upcoming events - Lots of Tennis!

If and when you join Rathgar Tennis club (as opposed to gazing longingly at this website) you will immediately be added to our mailing list and receive into your inbox a monthly full colour newsletter. This serves two functions - it tells you what happened since the last one, and it tells you about what's coming up. Copies of previous versions are available on this website so you can see what you missed. In the meantime we're working on the 2008 schedule of events - both senior and junior - and so that will hopefully be available soon. In general we enthusiastically compete in every DLTC league, we run regular in-club competitions and facilitate lots of ad hoc group events. In general terms we have great court availability and so it's possible to organise relatively spontaneous games without worrying about whether a court is available. So watch this space...
